  • I understand that the CHC quake was caused by a new or resurgent transcurrent structure. Is this one likely to heal itself or continue to jiggle. My experience has been with the Atacama flt in Chile where these ruptures occure frequently, again quite shallow but do heal themselves.

    • I’ve not heard of faults “healing” themselves. Both the February 6.3 and the September 7.1 are on faults with a history of rupture, so I imagine there’ll be may an earthquake along these faults in the years, centuries and millennia to come.
